Legions CTF for Dummies

I believe it says that the HOF should go for the E-grab/return only in the situation that the enemy has our flag but we do not have theirs.  It doesn't say that the HOF should cap.  There will be situations where the HOF will make the E-grab and will have enough speed and health to make it home.  But, that is for a higher level game where the players have high flag awareness and can switch positions as necessary to get the enemy flag captured.

HoF = Heavy on flag

If he left the base to go for the enemy flag, he would be switching positions to Heavy Offense. It's probably not a very good idea to leave the base as a HoF. If you end up having to respawn or die (which you probably will), by the time you respawned and got into position your flag would already either be llama'd or picked up by a capper.

If getting e-grabs is such a problem that your HoF has to travel across the map to grab, you might need new LO and/or cappers.

This thread is a sticky for new bloods.  I wrote down how I believe each position should be played.  It wasn't written so that we could nit pick/contradict each others posts.  If you would like to discuss/argue how the position of HOF (or any other position) should be played, start up a thread.  I would be glad to join in.

Please remember that in a game as dynamic as legions, different strategies can be implemented depending on play style and situations.  So, for right now even I hesitate to define a position's play style.

Compliments are welcome. Criticism is not. Copyright.  Grin

I'm not picking apart your post, I was simply giving my 2 cents and it was said in the nicest way possible. You can't make a thread and tell people not to criticize or post their opinions, everyone is entitled to do so.

Pardon my irritation. It was not aimed at you, just the effect of your post.

Normally, I welcome criticism/discussion (as long as it is well thought out) since they help iron out the wrinkles in an idea.  But the purpose of this thread is to give clear tasks for each position to a new player.  If everyone decides to give their "2 cents", it would become confusing to a first timer as to what the true goal of a position is.  This is the reason I specifically asked that there be no criticism/argument in this thread.

Again this is advice, hence not everything written is set in stone.  If anyone has something to criticize or wants to discuss how each position needs to be played, I suggest you make a new thread or better yet, make your own guide.  As HLMornaVal said, "The more newbie guides, the better."

You take it back to your own flag stand, if your flag is home you walk over it an cap (capture) the enemy flag.
