[BREAKING] Windows 7 Fix
« on: 07.18.09 | 04:24 PM »
Thanks to some hard work from some dedicated fans at PDXLAN14, we now have a successful fix for Windows 7 users who got the error "This version of Legions can only be run on InstantAction.com".  Here are the steps:

1. Right-click on the Legions.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" -> Select Windows XP (SP2 or SP3) -> Check "Run this program as an administrator" -> Apply/OK.

2. Right-click on your browser's executable file -> Do the same thing as you did to the Legions.exe (NOTE: Make sure you use the EXACT SAME compatibility mode as Legions.exe).

3. Turn ON User Access Control -> Make sure it's set to the HIGHEST setting.

4. Restart your computer.

5. Enjoy Legions!

This doesn't work for everyone.  We did have one guy where that's all he had to do, but for most people here with Windows 7, the only thing that works is using all of those repro steps (we've repro'd this about 10-15 times now).

Yes DeadGuy. And I have to add what I've added to each of my posts that contained this "fix": It's NOT official. You do this on your own responsibility. Windows7 is NOT yet supported by IA. Wink

And by the way: UAC and IE8 in combination don't really like IA, so you might want to use a different browser (like FF3.5).

You could probably give it a try, but likely do so at your own risk as I don't believe Windows 7 is officially supported by IA yet.

Personally, I'm going to pick up my copy on launch day, and if IA hasn't supported Windows 7 by then, I'll resort to using the fix as well.
