Ah, I probably didn't explain myself well enough.  It was the middle of the night when I wrote that.  It's basically a large sphere with no oob, you just loop around the moon.

I'll try to find some images or something to better explain it.
Oh no I get what your saying now, that would be very interesting actually.

Well, my first post on here in a year, but...

I think that this could have potential...  Deep space itself would not work.  There are no routes you could take and it would just be who can manage vertical thrusting the best.  However, what you would need would be multi-directional gravity.

What I mean is an asteroid field.  Scattered around this 3D map, there would be lots of asteroids, some large, some small, some gargantuan.  Now, depending on its size, each would exert a force on all the players.  At either end of the level would be massive space stations, one for each team.  Now, the level itself would be huge so while you could manually slingshot yourself from your base, you would need launch pads like the ones on The Core, only far more powerful.  These would throw you out of the gravity field of the station and towards the asteroids.  If you did nothing, you would eventually come back down and land on the station again, but if you applied thrust, you could come towards asteroids and begins using them to slingshot yourself, or as cover to snipe your targets.  This would have an interesting effect and you could use this for CTF or deathmatch.

Something to be noted though, the gravitational forces would have to be exagerated from what common sense tells you.  While the size of the object would play a part, for the sake of gameplay, you would have to magnify the gravitational strength of the asteroids on orders of ten before they would act as viable slingshots.

I suppose though, that you could have actual slingshots, perhaps have a few wrecks of cruisers that had been damaged and their engines were stuck creating a gravitational field.  This would allow you to use two or three super-slingshots that would be the prime nodes for capping.  The asteroids could then be side-paths that could be used for evasion or any number of other purposes.

I think that putting spce in is not that good of an idea because the Gravity on pace is different on Earth. I've done research about this and you're assuming that Gravity on spce works the same as gravity on Earth IT Doesnt trust me. we would need unlimited jetpack for this map because walking would get us nowhere.

Which is why I suggested multi-directional gravity.  Yes, you would have to exagerate it, but sling-shoting around asteroids would be awesome!

What would this do to aim? shoot a rocket and then Wham it hits you because youre to close to an asteriod.

Rockets and CG rounds are immune to gravity in the game.  Only the GL is affected...

Lol I have to show you quarry then, it's just like if you were in space with the bas and stuff going through the map and how the bases are setup, with their glowing effects and such. It reminds me of a type of space map...
I actually pictured what Seymore described in my head, and it doesn't resemble Quarry in the slightest. However, it did look awesome. That being said, it's only an exaggeration of the mind. I guess it could be made, but who would have time to go that in-depth with the graphics?

I for one think Legions in space is a terrific idea. Think about the physics, the endless possibilities for cap routes, the various types of game play, and all of the other possibilities having to do with strategy and positions!

I think that this could have potential...  Deep space itself would not work.  There are no

That all depends on the way the terrain is mapped and smoothed. It doesn't have to resemble deep space, remember, Legions isn't too realistic. That being said, I would like a map that has reality to it, as well. Having terrain that is planet or meteor-like would be nice, and maybe some realistic natural occurrences happening in the background. Also, some debris around the map based on natural occurrences and bases resembling some kind of space shuttle might be creative....Who knows?

It's a good idea, but the weapons will mostly be just CG and LR then...
And besides, Legions isn't made for that.
Legions was made using Torque 3D, while the "Space" arena that you're proposing would be more like something made my Torque 360, such as MarbleBlast.
Completely different, but I would love to see it happen.
