How to avoid jousting
How to avoid jousting
« on: 10.29.09 | 01:54 PM »
I tried this awhile today, and I say it looks better
on paper but not that practical in the sky.

Supposedly one can do a barrel roll going at your target
then bank right or left when your head is up during
the barrel roll. this should allow you to let your
target pass, then you roll on his 6 and kill him, or her.

This morning showed me that more times tham not, I got toasted.
I'm a bit rusty though. Thanks to Nem and Brian, and LD for reminding me.
Ouch.

Grin That was a fun game yesterday!!

I have gotten fairly good at avoiding the joust (mainly cause I'm not that good at jousting  Wink) The main thing that I have found that works, is to swerve, not just back and forth but up and down a little too. All you are trying to do is get the enemy to shoot where you were, so your main strategy is to confuse them about where you are going. You can also dip a little when the enemy gets close to you, this causes them to dive and you can then climb above them and gain the advantage. Now if they don't dive on you, you just gave them an advantage so use this with caution.

There are a fair number of pilots that just know how to joust, so if you can get past them, then you can then start out manuevering them FTW!!

Well I have done my share of jousting but I try and avoid it as much as possible. I find the easiest way to avoid it is RUN just RUN LMAO.

Here are my 4 top tips at Joust survival.
-----------------------------------------

1) Under no circumnstances what so ever, should you try to out joust Firsty . Forget it.

2) Never opt for using the Spad 7

3) Never opt for using indendary ammo - unless your joust target is a balloon ! - or one of those little tent thingies... you know the ones.

4) Prior to the Joust, ensure your squire is well clued up, secondary weapons are at hand, and that your armour is well oiled and rust free. This will prevent it seizing up at the critical moment, and avoids the embarresment of not being able to raise your visor whilst laying on your back in the mud, having being thrown from your horse, and generally losing your bearings whilst your opponent closes in for the coup de grace' ...
oh ... heck ...   wrong time zone.
Sorry ...

No worries.

I find it strange, eh.... I thank you all for your response.
Your knowledge becomes my power. And yes Brian, it was a
intense game for me . Hand is recovering well. LD thanks for
the duct tape in advance. Nem as a researcher has solid advice.
Cherokee, my run and dodge technique sucks a bit, but you all know that.
lol
But learn I did. thank you all again,

Did this make anysense haha
Oh Nem i'm researching sleep deprivation.
Conclusion? Bad.
See ya up there

Excellent !!
Sleep deprivation is good training. Yes indeedy...
After about 48 hrs , you may notice  other things about you in your surroundings, that you may not have been aware of before.
Like the little corners of your room ... for some strange reason, I tended to have to stare at them... as if they were calling me .
Then ... their audio hallucinations became greater - which after 36 hours became a kind of physical deprivation too...   hence me siting naked in the corner shivering,,, curled in a ball ... with wild staring eyes ... teeth chattering... and biting my nails down to the knuckles.
Then ... after apparently 96 hrs, the people who live behind the wallpaper came out and sedated me with their cocktail of starch and boot polish.
Now ... call me Mr Picky ...but my ex partner could not understand - hence her having to join a convent... and well...Im still of sound mind , and I like to push the boundaries every once in a while.
Isnt that what is life is for ...?  Living ?

You will find that most jousting happens in action mode, even there is no sure bet how to avoid jousting in action mode. The best thing for one to do is play in Simulation, you will find the person that jousts in action mode, that his tactics don't work so will in sim mode. Ask a few people in here who's only tactic is to joust in action mode but have no idea how to dog fight in sim mode.

you can still joust fine in sim mode if you have the right distance and good aim, i actually did a couple sim modes the other day for fun and yes i still jousted it can work and does work its the one flying the plane that makes the difference.

Then, why don't you joust me in simulation, lets see if it works as well as it does in Action Mode Smiley . I don't think so

Anti-*fluffy bunny*bag/*rainbow* line starts here:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This isn't going to turn into a fight about dueling, or sim mode over action, or whos better than who, or why people are cowards, or why they're idiots, etc...

I accepted the earlier posts because while they're walking the line with the rules they have fair points. HOWEVER, this is a topic about jousting, NOT about dueling someone. I know you have a grudge against Keith Misty but keep that crap out of civilized discussion topics.

Any posts off topic to said effect beyond the “Anti-*fluffy bunny*bag/*rainbow* line” will be deleted. Please stay on topic.

This always works for me. all u gotta do this switch to view number 9. then fly up, down, left, right DO NOT BARREL ROLL. it makes u an easy target. fly left right up and down. anything to dodge the line of bullets coming at you. when ur enemy passes by loop over and dive onto his six. Never fails

Except when you're in a Triplane and the other persone is in a fast plane and they just keep on  going.

ya hey guys try to play one whole game just in the number 9 view, its fun to watch your plane but extremely hard to aim but i just ran right through the crowd of people shooting then some1 got on my tail and i just moved around and its seems actually more natural to and easy to escape and do maneuvers in the 9 view.
