MBP 8600m optimization?
MBP 8600m optimization?
« on: 11.03.09 | 05:52 PM »
Since the aust. deds have come back my frame rates are dropping into the teens regularly even with only 10 players and while I dont think they are related, something has changed. I have had this problem before and it has just gone away by itself but currently its ruining my interest in legions.

Anyone have advise on how to get the most out of legions without resorting to lite?

I modded my pref file which gives me more frames at times but it still goes from 150 fps to 12 fps at often unless its only 2 or 3 players.

would going to win7 give me a few more fps, or isnt legions playing on it yet?

ps. playing in xp currently, 4 gig ram snow leopard drivers etc

Are you emulating windows? That might be the problem. Try Google Chrome for VERY large FPS increases(i got 5-10 extra but others have reported larger, 20+); that might bring you stable FPS. I'm on an older gen MBP and have never really had issues with FPS drops (it's stable at around 35 :p ).

Win7 has a hacky solution, I wouldn't go Win7 purely for IA (but Win7 in general looks like it's a nice step from XP).

Could you post your full specs?

I am on chrome also, no emulation I use bootcamp, 2.4 mbp core2, 8600m 256meg. 15 inch

I have had no problems with fps for ages but the last time I did it was just like this, out of the blue my fps started noticeably dropping and then a few weeks/months later its good again.

but getting to as low as 12 frames seems pretty lame for the machine I have. I run at 1440 pixels but turn every thing else off which seems to work in the past.

what drivers are u running, I am using the snow leopard drivers (177 version i think)

theres no conclusive stuff on the net about performance and other drivers.

I'm running Leopard drivers, dunno what version; have you updated the drivers for your videocard?
