watch out Ljubo, twisted demon is pretty good, he beat teix like 4-1 in 1v1 the other day O.O

lies...
i was doing the first 1vs1 with him, and i though he was noob(but i wanted him in TDW) so i follow the xen guide(to make noobs play) he won 5-1 or 5-2, then he joined TDW and i did one 1vs1 again and i won 5-4 Tongue :Pbut lj i dont think you will be able to win against him(just my opinion) Grin Grin

Just because they may be "good" at Galcon doesn't mean they are people you like playing with. Some of those people are really annoying.
Overall, pretty good people though xD

"everyone in galcon should have almost all of those players in their friend list."

some of those players maybe are annoying but they know how to play and for the "noobs" is what is important..

*sigh* It doesn't take that much to be good in 1 on 1s, you just have to get a couple good started. For every 20 I play there are maybe 2 that are even enough starts that both people really have to fight for the win.

This circle of comparing each other is really stupid imo...

It's like saying I'm the best because I beat X, and X beat Y, but wait didn't Y beat K, and K beat you?

Like I said it's only a matter of time before everyone gets beat by someone. Nothing comes of comparing yourself to others in the higher levels unless you think they're on a totally different level from you.

Stop fighting here, take it to IA please. LjuboM you need to loose the ego, and Twisted needs to learn there's no place for that around here. Galcon requires a lot of skill, but when you get to the top ranks it also has a lot to do with luck. There is no “best” and a 1 on 1 can only prove so much. I beat someone 3-0 the other day in a set of 1 on 1s who in my opinion is without a doubt a better player than me from desktop.

Everyone wins some, and everyone loses some. The point is there's no reason to get a big ego about it because someone will always beat you in the end.

although, i diagree with you saying that there is not "best player." I just think that the possition of best player changes so often that its hard to tell who it is all the time. There is also a difference between a person's reputation and a person's current skill. Players have good games, bad games, starting positions to deal with, others players to deal with as well. How a player deals with all these factors and takes advantage of these situations determines their skill and alters their reputation...
so i guess someone with the greatest reputation is known as the "best" but as i said earlier, reutation doesnt always equil skill... dammit chi, you beat me in an arguement without even saying anything.....   Sad   Tongue Tongue

Wooo that was fun!

Sure someone could be better than the others and technically win more, but with the luck of a starting position and all the variables in the game that's no guarantee they'll ever win any given game. Or in other words they could easily lose to anyone around their same skill level just by the luck of the starting planets.

That being said rather than thinking of a “best” player I think of levels of players. That can be split up loads of different ways but the basics are newbie, mid-level, and pro or vet. There are quite a few in between but everyone can fall into one of these categories, and if you fight someone in the same group as you chances are it's going to be more about starting planets then skill.

Quick example, me and Teix had some 1 on 1s today. The first 6 to 8 or so we both won every other game depending on who had the better start. After that he got a few more good starts then me and ended up pulling ahead by a couple games. We weren't keeping score or anything but no matter what amount of planets or how many ships I put whoever had the best starting cluster would always win.

In my opinion Teix is actually a bit better at IA 1 on 1s then me, but at least in that set of games there were none close enough that I could say one of us really beat the other due to skill.  So even if he was better there was no way to know for sure.

conclusion:
1vs1 sucks Tongue in galcon 1vs1 dont count almost for nothing..(only for see in what "level" you are(quoting chi-ro))

but in ffa the start position dont count a lot, if you have the best spot, you will be teamed, if you have the "average"spot you will try get the bigger spot if the bigger make any mistake, and if you got the "worst" spot you will oe try get the biggest or wait till the "average" attack the bigger and backstab then..this only happen when we have some newbie in the game(without the "worst"position if a newbie get that spot he will suicide on someone), but the game only have good players is basicly camping and camping...

Woa good posts made in this thread.

For me its easier to win in a "pro" party then in a public party.if i do this or that, i mostly know every step what will happen, before it even happened. In public parties peoples lack of skill makes them do stupid moves or defending when they shouldnt.

and ye 1v1 is based on skill. But when 2 people with same level of skill 1v1 eachother its based on starting planets.(and a bit mistakes).
And when a pro 1v1s a averager and the averager gets a great spot, the pro will loose aswell.

Skill can only do a bit to eventually winning the game. More so do all the things that happens around you. u can be 100 times better then all the other players and still not win every game. bcuz other players force you to do things.

And dam.. i wish my english was good enough to explain myself better so ima quit heer
