new type of GLS.
« on: 11.06.09 | 03:11 PM »
i know that the gls was removed because it was to OP.
now i know that it probably wont be back but i have ideas that
could make it less OP

First off give it to an outrider. this will limit the cause of cluster jumping to get 200 easy.
If you gave it to an OR you would need to make it so that a direct hit with a cluster is the same as a MA nade.
Some may say that this would be the same as just hitting someone with a nade but clustering is much different.
I know this isnt Perfect but i think that it could be a start to bring New class

Ok, GLS was removed because it being overpowered as said by cram. But if it would be limited and given to a outrider...hmmm...the outrider should only have one weap, the GLS.

Buuuttt, why not use Sentinel? They're fat, they're big, they have instant ODs.

You can always RJ or better tactic : let clusters and explode em to make u go faster.

The problem with the GLS wasn't with the classes that could use it, the problem was the weapon itself. When activated at just the right moment, the cluster ability of the grenade could cause a massive amount of damage, even a 1-hit KO on an outrider and possilby a raider, as well. While giving the GLS to an outrider would pretty much keep it from nade-jumping, I don't think that reason is good enough. A seasoned dueler will still be incredibly deadly with the GLS and will still be able to gain a good amount of speed without the use of grenade jumps. Thus, the GLS goes back to what it was, a deadly weapon; too deadly, in fact.

The idea here isn't to give the GLS to an outrider, the idea is to change the weapon itself. I don't think spreading the cluster out would do much, seeing as you could still detonate it close to a player and deal a massive amount of damage. I think the thing to do would be to decrease the total damage a single cluster can deal. This way, you at least have to aim more with it, otherwise your just going to cause an insignificant amount of damage to another player.

The GLII can still 1-hit kill Raiders. And the problem actually was that it could be used by Raiders. It was meant to be a Sentinel-only weapon, and designed in that way.

I wish they'd bring it back in, but I guess it is too overpowered...
