Whats with the pity party? Seriously...

Anyway, there only a handful of people who can defend themselves effectively in close-quarters with a LRS loadout, which you have to do if you're at your base waiting for the flag. Running away from being pummeled is perfectly acceptable for a flag carrier - as long as you're not just running around aimlessly to avoid combat. You should get some safe distance and try to regroup with teammates. Call them back to your base and meet them there. Once you're secure, pass the damn flag to someone with a proper close-combat loadout (because people will be rushing the flag carrier) and help out by returning your flag or switching loadouts and defending the flag carrier. If you don't have any teammates, or they don't care about winning, just try to put up a fight and freaking die with dignity.

There are perfectly good LR dueling tactics that don't running away. If you're more effective at defending yourself with another loadout then you owe it to your team to use one of those loadouts when carrying the flag or pass it to someone in a better position to defend themselves than you.

As for the runner vs capper conversation, that's just stupid. The term "flag runner" has been used in competitive CTF long before triebz and is a perfectly acceptable term. Grabber is admittedly less common, but still valid.

This sounds like the description of an perverted old man in an old folks home who always cops a feel of the passing nurses.

"oh frank, he's a grabber"

I always think of cappers as the players who's job it is to do nothing but run routes and grab the flag. Grabber is more conditional in that if you made the grab and off-loaded the flag then you were the grabber. Runner I tend to use to signify that you're carrying the flag, but capper/runner are interchangeable as far as I'm concerned.

And about the LRS, I've been playing around with it lately as the last class I've tried to play, and it's actually pretty decent. It requires some wicked aim and the leading when sniping throws you off a bit, but you can be pretty formidable with it.

I'd like to submit a new term to the dictionary:

teapot - a newbie, refers to the default teapot avatar in IA. Generally also have numbers in their nicknames, eg. "Killer271". Tend to snipe.

oh no seriously you must be a *dancing* noob, nobody EVER called the Capper a Runner, i have been seriously schooled about this, check around, anybody who uses the term runner in a tribes like game has to be a *dancing* noob.

and from a distance i can defend myself, and it lets me do something productive or at least less-unproductive when im out moving from capp rout hill to capp rout hill(hills that have dirrect shot to my base) granted against people at my own scating/skking/jetting skill level im less effective but most people when chasing fly/skate/ski in a strait line.......and ZAP....dead Tongue

and alot of the conversation has been about pubs and how they need fixed......

how can you fix a situation when the problem is the players and not the system?

if people dont want to CTF but join a CTF game because a TDM isnt populated, how do you fix that, nobody wants you to remove the scores because those who vote here are some of the ones who cause those situations in the first place......

im suprised Dworgi and phan havent called you a *dancing* noob for using the term runner.....probbly afrade u would bann them Tongue

Go back to the thread you made and look up my posts about the capper/runner stuff. I said I had a personal preference to capper and thought it and runner were interchangeable. What I disagreed with was rabbit. Please, stop distorting my words.

Because I control the thread, I'm going to call a runner this:
Runner – Play who has the flag. And runs with it. Literally. Haha, L2ski n00b.  Smiley

Thanks munge for the definitions, I'll be editing it now.

Cluster F*ck- A battle for a dropped flag resulting in attempted grabs, killing of the other team or teammates, and shooting the flag for better placement.
