INSTALLATION

-Backup your "images" (rename it "backup_images", for example) folder found within "X:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\GarageGames\IAPlayer\products\www_instantaction_com\102\install\legions\gui\"

-Unzip the file into "X:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\GarageGames\IAPlayer\products\www_instantaction_com\102\install\legions\gui\"

-Play!

Alright, worked some more... I modified the Chaingun reticule and Overheat gauge as well as redone the Armor/Energy gauges to look even more like they're projected on your helmet's visor. The Grenade Launcher reticule was also changed (removed that ruler underneath, removed the center circle)

I'm trying to go with a Metroid Prime kind of feel. I'll have to work the other reticules and the icons later.

heeey I like this already, keep it coming. Will you be creating custom HUD elements or just reworking what we currently have?

I'll be working what we currently have... once I figure out how to move things around or add/remove stuff (if its even possible), I'll likely have more stuff changed; I am for something that'll look good without being intrusive but definitively feels futuristic.

Alright, I've made some progess and decided to release an early 'beta' of the HUD so I can get some proper feedback.

INSTALLATION

-Unzip the file into "X:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\GarageGames\IAPlayer\products\www_instantaction_com\102\install\legions\gui\"

-Play!


VERSION 0.2 FEATURES :

-Armor and Energy gauge made into a thick, solid blue bar with a very transparent background; it is made to have a slight, barely noticeable curve as well as a slight 3D effect

-Chaingun reticule has its outer borders removed and the inner section modified; the Overheat gauge is made more transparent as to block less of your view as well as being full sized. It fills up with a light blue except for the last top two tiers which fills up yellow then red; added a few small deco lines along the top tiers, giving somewhat of a good hint that the gun is near overheating

-Overheat graphic has been modified to fit with the currently used font (Arial) of all objects of the HUD

-Grenade Launcher's reticule has its underside ruler removed; the normal reticule is 4 square corners without the center circle. The cluster grenade reticule has the same look as the normal one except for the golden arrows and the words "REMOTE ONLINE" showing

-The Rocket Launcher reticule has been cut down to a T crosshair with a demi-circle. The remote detonation has red side graphics as well as the crosshair's branches coming together at the center; once the rocket is detonated, the branches slides back to their original positions

-The menu buttons have a different, bluish feel as well as looking more futuristic

-Modified the side graphics to make them look slightly more transparent and more 'technical' than a mere curve


PLANNED CHANGES :

-Modify the Laser Rifle reticule to not show any center crosshair unless fully charged.

-Modify the compass and top graphics to give it a slight glow effect, as if the projected HUD was generated within the visor.

-Modify the lower HUD elements to match the top

-Modify the overall graphics of the ingame menus for more eye-candy.

-Might make weapon/ammo icons show within a frame separately to make them more visible.

-Slight changes to the chat window

-Modification of the icons (flag, flag carrier, etc.) to match the theme of the HUD

Another update already!

-Added the Laser Rifle crosshair with the following features :

1. Non-zoomed, the Rifle has no crosshair; once the rifle starts charging, parts of   the crosshair will begin to show until fully charged where the pinpoint center appears. The words "Charging" and "Ready" appears when respectively charging and when the rifle is ready to fire.

2. When zoomed, you have a standard crosshair similar to a sniper scope; once you begin charging, the 4 branches begin to fill up until fully charged; once fully charged, the pinpoint center appears.

-Removed the central dot of the Chaingun rifle; it slightly helps to have a better view; besides, the gun's spread, normal or spec, doesn't give pinpoint accuracy; the three branches remains as well as the Overheat gauge

-Made the "Overheat" message a bit more transparent as to not clog up the view

-Changed the grenade launcher's "Remote Ready" to "Cluster Armed" as well as recoloring the text into something more inline with the HUD's scheme; besides, "Cluster Armed" is more significant than "Remote Ready"

-Changed the Player Icon to an arrow with a gradient (much like the flag icon I posted in another thread); I think I'll leave the Flag icons and such as they are as they already rather fit the display well.



Upcoming, planned changes :

-Modify the top and bottom HUD elements to give out a faint glow to simulate the projection of the HUD itself on the visor

-Make the letters of the compass clearer and more visible

-If possible, change the color scheme of the ingame menu to reflect the current theme of the HUD

Definitely my favorite hud mod. Looks great, but isn't obtrusive. Thanks for giving back to the community. Smiley

Very nice work wiegraf, a touch busy for me (my hud is stripped down to the bare essentials) but it definitely looks great.

Good Job Bud! However I do like Bounty-TW's PlayerIcon Better ( Upidedown Triangle ) that looks like it was from Tribes. And TribesVET's Iron Cross For the Flag Carrier. However I will use the rest of your hud.
