Well I have no experience with you, but I will say BugsPray is one of the least aggressive people in this community, and you don't seem to have a very good understanding of why we do pickups, or how we do them.


It seems like you don't understand, and are having a bad time. Luckily for you the pickups aren't mandatory.

As one of the "pickup leaders" to which this original post was probably directed, I feel that I must address this thread in a simple and brief manner.

The online gaming is usually not considered to be the most mature group of individuals on the interweb; however, relatively speaking, it is my belief that ChaoticPrime does not meet the minimum requirements for maturity to play in our pickups. He simply doesn't get how our small Legions/Ventrilo/IRC community works or even why it exists. Given a few years, I'm sure he'll be fine; but right now, I believe that ChaoticPrime should simply play Legions on public servers, or possibly play some other games on XBox Live. This community holds pickups as a fun way to simulating a competitive atmosphere. I don't believe people are mean to one another for no reason; but we do talk trash, and are occasionally selective, so you have to have some thickness to your skin in order to game with us. (E.G. "Sorry, if you aren't the most talented individual, you will not be picked first.") Though I do try to include everyone, this isn't youth soccer. We're a bunch of nerds looking for an adrenaline rush. When formal (ladder/tournament) competition with teams starts, the pickups won't be as necessary. For now, it's a nice placeholder. I hope that you, ChaoticPrime, have a bit more of an understanding as to why we do what we do. There are plenty of fun things to do in this world that don't involve getting your feelings hurt over the internet. GLHF (sincerely).

okay well phroo and blitz your right, see why can't anyone else explain like you both do. But I have to take responsibilty for my part in this, what I should have said is" Help I am having trouble with pickups, I don't get Invited into pickups because I don't know when it happens. Is there a place where I can find out about pickups" and that's what I should have said but It is hard to make rash decisions when you are frustrated.

This is the crux of the problem. Nobody else gets so easily frustrated or angry over something as simple as a pickup. The problem has nothing to do with time/place for a game. I think you should stick to the public servers in Legions for now. Forget about the pickups entirely. There's plenty of other things to do online that are fun.

I stopped right there. Seriously, the pickups do take forever to organize, which is  why I usually don't participate.

On the other hand I suggest you take a good 20 minutes to go run around the block next time you decide to post.  You might need to blow off some steam and decide if a post like this is at all constructive to anything...

At least we try. There's a small player base of people willing/able to attend, and because of IA's absolutely garbage (quote me on that Taylor) hosting/server setup connection problems are the norm. That's why it takes 20-30 minutes to set up, as opposed to 2-5 minutes.

So, I understand your frustration. Frankly, I haven't felt too keen on IA/Legions or organizing anymore pickups due to all the bullpup that goes with the process lately. It's so nice to play other games which I can actually join with minimal issues and decent ping and which also have nice UIs and actual server lists and admins to kick TKs ... brb CoD:WaW.

I stopped trying for the time being due to the errors.

It's not worth having everyone wait whether I can get the connection working, or if they need a sub.

I'm gonna say this once.  Stop the flame wars.  Chaoticprime, you posted an unconstructive complaint, expect people to attack you when you do something like this.  If this train keeps sliding off the rails, it will be locked and lost forever.

Make an anything goes section

We really don't want a pool of filth section on the forums.  These forums are one of the faces of InstantAction.com and it's just not a good idea to promote an "anything goes" section.  There's a countless number of other forums around the internet that you can participate in if you want something like that.
