LOL is this IA or TW? Anyway I never liked the grapple in T:V. It wasn't that it was hard to master, but for some reason I found it extremely hard to pick someone off holding the flag and swinging around a stalagtite in one of those sucky maps can't remember which one. I tried every weapon and nothing seemed to hit him. Don't know if the issue was lag or framerates, but either way this guy would swing around for a while before getting nailed.

Ok no one has mentioned this and it is kind of irrelevant to Legions since it most likely wont include this, but what makes me keep going back to T1 and T2 are the mods.

They are all small scripts you load up in a few seconds connecting to a server.  These are what make me go back to any game more then once after I get up to the top.

T:V was canceled before any mod came out for it and I was crushed that renwerx was never able to get theirs out.

Every game I have been addicted to has had mods gallore, Ive played an RPG Tribes 1, I fell in love with Ultra Renegades, and the renegades mod was just as great.  The same Goes with Tribes 2, Lots of mods, Classic, Renegade again, and a few more especially the builders to go waste time on.

Looking at another game, which has been rated pretty high, it is Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2.  This game has so many levels and mods, some make it an rpg, some are like counter strike, some are just rediciously over powerful, I remember the WAR mod, I saw from 1.0 all the way through 3.

  I believe that what makes the community is working together to shape the gameplay into what fits the community.  The core elements to tribes and tribes 2 is the Modding community in my opinion.
Does anyone Disagree?

Also from what Ive heard that tribes 2 was a flop in the beggining, because of bugs.  After that the modding community fixed the game and it became a hit.  I may be wrong, and please correct me.

I was not able to play tribes 2 in the begining, even though I owned a Copy from day 1.  Sadly I was a noob with computer hardware and I got a good lesson in Minimum Hardware Requirements that day.  Eventually I got into playing the game, one of the first things i went to do was attempt at making a level.

So really, thats my opinion of what makes the tribes experience.  Its looking in the game types and finding all the different mods you can just play and see if you like them.

Does anyone disagree?

I think Mods are a great part of the community, but I really hate when a game loses touch with it's base servers.  I really really enjoy playing a game as intended 90% of the time, unless it's just essential, like a CS admin plugin.

I'd much rather people be able to better choose the game they like to play, meaning mods.  CS was a mod.

T2 a flop at first?  Perhaps for some... not for me Cheesy  Although it did take me the first couple of months after release to get it to run... lol, but it was a hit for me since seeing a beta screenshot in a game magazine back in the day when the were pushing back the release lol

Coming from T1, T2, and T:V(dare I admit), I'm very much so looking foward to this game and hope it will keep my interests with gaming much like T1 helped to do.  Keep it as competitive as you possibly can.  That's all I can really say at this point.

Actually no,  I shouldn't say that.. simply for input's sake, I'm highly anticipating seeing how the CTF will pan out. Smiley

Yes, but it was a total conversion using the engine.

It was not: NEW WEAPONS LIKE CYCLONE (chain gun with modified colors and million bullet spray) UBEROCKET (rocket launcher that shoots a giant rocket) and SUPER LUNCHER (a grenade launcher that spits out grilled cheese)

Popular games draw in modders because of the potential audience. Sometimes mods draw in new players, but that only happens quite a while after the base game has shipped. I think it's pretty elementary that the game itself has to be appealing enough to warrant modifications to it, rather than moddability luring in the masses.

I have a IA account,  just commenting how I never get picked for beta's that I actually want to be in.

I have been invited to a dozen or more beta's over the years.  Just never one that I actually wanted to be in.  This is the type of game that I would immerse myself into and tear the game apart and put it back together again trying to help them improve it.  This type of FPS is what got my started in online gaming and kept me around.  I've competed at every level.  I believe I know what makes and breaks these types of games.  Anyway....

I'm just not very optimistic that I will make it due to how they select people at the beginning.  I have no motivation to do the required *bumm* grabbing to get in.  Smiley

To be fair, I don't believe I got VIP status by *bumm* grabbing/ kissing/general molestation or whatever.

I feel fairly confident in saying that I got VIP status, and therefore beta rights, because I've contributed both to this Legions forum, and more importantly, to the bugs/troubleshooting forums.

Indeed, munge specifically states in the beta thread that the first beta testers for Legions will be those who have helped test IA.

So it might be an idea, rather than lamenting your lack of beta, to take a step outside of these hallowed forums, and get reporting when the next version of IA pops up. Even if it doesn't provide you with the beta as fast you (or any of us) might like, its hardly going to hurt the overall process.
