It's been a long time coming but we've finally a TDM ladder, courtesy of BFCL. We will be using a ladder rather than a league format, allowing for (hopefully) easier match scheduling and a more relaxed atmosphere. This ladder is recommended for the following types of players and teams:-Those who enjoy TDM as a game type, i.e., the required skill, and luck's miniscule role
-Those wishing to improve theirs and their team's DM skills and coordination
-Those who would enjoy more Legions matches
-Those currently intimidated by CTF play and its intricacies
-Those who wish to play legions competitively, but aren't sure where to begin
-Those who missed the BFCL CTF cutoff date
-Those who believe TDM to be shallow and skilless
-Those who simply enjoy shooting people
Registration Info:You'll have to sign up separately for BFCL's ladder section - your Legions league registration won't cut it (yes, I'm well aware it's a pain). The ladder section may be reached here:
http://www.bfcl.info/ladder/ladders.phpRules:The full ruleset may be reached through the main ladder section (see above)
Briefly:
-
6 v 6 Competition: greater accessibility for smaller teams while allowing for larger maps
-
2 Maps per match, Kill Limit of 100*, no Time Limit: maps will be chosen by the teams, one each (duh)
*Note: To prevent team killing (i.e., subverting your opponents' points), overall deaths will determine the winner (i.e., the team with fewer deaths is the victor . . . again, duh)-
Cumulative Scoring (i.e., you're essentially playing to 200 kills)
-
Class Restrictions: Maximum of 1 sentinel and 1 sniper per team; all other classes are unrestricted****Note: Done to restrict turtling Goals:With this ladder we hope to encourage match play, increases in individual and team DM skill, and increased team communication. While the ladder will have its share of highly-skilled TDM teams, we also wish to provide a less daunting environment for those teams newly-formed. As such, a relaxed approach will be taken toward match scheduling. For example, should two teams have online the requisite six players, they may opt to play a TDM ladder match, even without prior negotiation. (Both captains would have to report match results).
So that's it - I encourage all current clans to sign up. And hey, if you want to gather five friends and start a new team, that's great too.
Good luck, and for the love of Legions, let's try to have some fun.*Edit* Apparently, prior to my posting, we had 4 teams on the ladder already. Nice response people.
